Touching Women’s Lives. Fighting Women’s Cancers.

By expanding awareness, The Peony Project and its members are determined to grow healthier families and communities to aid in the fight against women's cancers, one life at a time. Founded by the friends and family of Georgia Cord, The Peony Project hosts a series of educational events throughout the year, each focused on a special topic related to women's health, wellness, and cancer prevention. Experts in the fields of early detection, prevention, genetics, nutrition, and green living lead open discussions and answer questions in an intimate setting.

The Project is educational, inspirational, and potentially life-saving. Mothers, daughters, sisters, friends, and the men who love them gather at Peony Events to learn from top physicians, women's cancer specialists, and lifestyle experts. The resulting conversations, questions, and insights emerge as profound calls to action. We aim to arm participants with the knowledge necessary to prevent and fight cancer on individual, local, and global levels. The Peony Project is an initiative of the Lynne Cohen Foundation, which combats women's cancers through education, prevention, and community.

According to Greek mythology, the Peony is a plant of healing. In fact, the flower was named after the gods' physician, Paeon. Historically, Peonies' seeds, bark, roots, and flowers have been used to support women's health and healing. The Peony's short blooming period further symbolizes the power, beauty, and fleeting nature of life.

The Peony was Georgia's favorite flower.

Benefit Event

On April 26, 2014, The Peony Project hosted a one-time special benefit to honor Georgia Cord's memory and raise critical funds for the Lynne Cohen Preventive Care Program for Women's Cancers at USC/Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center. The Peony Project community raised over $300,000 at this one-time event, and as a result, the preventive care clinic was renamed in Georgia's honor. The Peony Project's commitment to education and prevention, and its members' love for the cause and for Georgia, enabled this tremendous act of generosity, whose impact continues to be felt by many.
